Search Form Toggle Effect

I am using a bare bones bootstrap template and Wordpress.

How can I add a search icon to my bootstrap nav bar? Then have that icon toggle the search fade on and off the screen like I see on modern websites?

This was just the starting point I needed! I adapted it to my existing code and made the functions work with Wordpress. It looks great and works great. Thank you!!!
