Python Functional Python Functional Workhorses Map Comprehension

[SOLVED] Stuck on task 2 of 2

Now make a variable named areas that calculates the area of each item in dimensions using your area function. You should do this with a list comprehension.

dimensions = [ (5, 5), (10, 10), (2.2, 2.3), (100, 100), (8, 70), ]

def area(dimensions): return dimensions[0] * dimensions[1]

areas = ???

maps.py
dimensions = [
    (5, 5),
    (10, 10),
    (2.2, 2.3),
    (100, 100),
    (8, 70),
]

def area(dimensions):
    return dimensions[0] * dimensions[1]

areas =

FIGURED IT OUT! Just had to read the python docs.

Hey Steven,

Would you be able to help me with this? https://teamtreehouse.com/community/completely-stuck-on-task-4-of-4

hi guys,i dont know whats wrong here.Please help

'Error:areas contains some incorrect values.'

dimensions = [ (5, 5), (10, 10), (2.2, 2.3), (100, 100), (8, 70), ]

def area(x): for a in x: a*a return a*a

areas = [area(a) for a in dimensions]

Instructions are tricky... It's solved with list() method.

areas = list(map(area, dimensions))
