trouble getting the math to square rather than multiplying the numbers together if I do number * 3 it just goes 333
def square(number):
return number * 3
result = square('3')
print(result)

I think your problem is that you pass '3'
into square()
. This treats it as a string, so it repeats the string three times. Instead, you should use square(3)
so that it treats it as an integer.
Also, the function should return the square of number
. Even though the number = 3
in this case, the function should still use number * number
.
