It really depends on what you want to achieve, if you want to learn wordpress to make your own site using a theme i would go with "Learn Wordpress" if you want to be able to develope your own themes go with Wordpress Development.

If you happen to pick Wordpress Development make sure you have a solid foundation on HTML,CSS and PHP.

Since you are starting I recommend you to start with Learn Wordpress so you get a good grasp on what can you do with wordpress, after you are done and you want to create sick themes do Wordpress Development.

PS: Sick theme = AWESOME themes..

The Learn WordPress Track is specifically for people looking to learn how to use WordPress and what it's all about. It's also a prereq for the WordPress Development Track :)

I'd forgot there was a track for learning WordPress. Thanks, Zac.

Robert, I'd recommend getting familiar with using WordPress first off. In my experience, it's one of the best ways to get started. With first-hand knowledge of the WordPress dashboard, you'll further ready yourself to start developing. I touched more on what courses to take in a post here if you want to take a look.
