3,870 PointsStuck using the @property.setter special method
Hey guys,
I'm having trouble getting through this challenge. I've rewatched the video a couple of times and my intuition is telling me the code should be working but obviously it's not.
Does anyone have a next step I could take to try and resolve this?
Thank you.
class Product:
_price = 0.0
tax_rate = 0.12
def __init__(self, base_price):
self._price = base_price
@property
def price(self):
return self._price + (self._price * self.tax_rate)
@price.setter
def price(self, price):
self._price = price + 1

1,662 PointsI think your issue is the +1 that you are adding on to the price. Try without that, see if your code will pass.

28,683 PointsHere's what I think the challenge is: We need to be able to set the price of a product through a property setter. Add a new setter (@price.setter) method to the Product class that updates the _price attribute.
I came up with a simple, no-calculation solution, just limited to what the challenge asked for: @price.setter def price(self, update): self.price = update
Worked for me :) - hope this helps
