The difference between TCP/IP 4 layers and OSI 7 layers and what they do.

I know that tcp/ip has 4 layers but what do they do?

Transport, Transport layer, Internet, Network Access,

AND

OSI has 7 layers but what do they do?

Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Data Link, Physical,

I know this is more networking but it's important for programmers to know as well and I want to make sure that I have a good understanding of it.

The conventional 4 TCP/IP "layers" are Application, Transport, Internet, and Network Access.

The Transport layer is the same in both models, the Internet layer is comparable to layer 3 (Network) in the OSI model. The Network Access layer is equivalent to OSI layers 1 and 2 combined. Finally, the Application layer is similar to OSI layers 5, 6, and 7 combined.
