We had used wpt_theme_styles/wpt_theme_js functions in functions.php, but I got an error that wp_theme_styles not found

then I again renamed both functions and it worked, but why wpt_theme_styles and wpt_theme_js did not work? and if wordpress uses default only, please make changes in tutorial.

It should be working fine. You probably just had some mistake in your code so it didnt work.
