12,742 PointsWhat is a file system in this context?
I'm familiar with a file system as a branching tree of nested files stored on a hard drive.
In this context it appears to be a special object with methods we need in order access and store the contents of a file.
I've read the API docs, but the given explanation-- "File I/O is provided by simple wrappers around standard POSIX functions." doesn't make much sense to me.
Could anyone better elaborate on this? Or point me towards the appropriate resources? Thanks in advance.
