Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 15,928 PointsHi Aayush, you're doing great, you just wrote your code the other way around. You appended the unordered list with a class 'student-list' to the new list item which contains a name:
var $newStudent = $("<li>Sam Smith</li>").append(".student-list"); //you don't append directly to a variable declaration
Instead of appending the new list item which contains a name to the unordered list with a class 'student-list':
var $newStudent = $("<li>Sam Smith</li>");
$('.student-list').append($newStudent);
