What to do when the ErrorException "mkdir() Protocol error" pops up everytime I try to create a project/install Laravel?

Everytime I try to install Laravel with this command:

"composer create-project --prefer-dist laravel/laravel laravel-basics"

the terminal gives me a ErrorException "mkdir() Protocol error". Is there anyone who knows how to deal with this error? I've been looking for a solution for a day now.
