On every page, right below the box were you can input an answer (or where you input your question), you'll see this line:
Reference this Markdown Cheatsheet for syntax examples for formatting your post.
If you click on the words "Markdown Cheatsheet" in that sentence (the real one, not my quote of it above), a little dialog box will pop up giving you brief instructions on the most commonly used aspects of Markdown.
