Which CMS is more secure and less vulnerable, WordPress or ExpressionEngine ?

I have a client that I've been working for over a year doing some maintenance on a WP site. Because the company began to grow, they hired new developers that suggest to the company switched from WP to EE saying that EE is more secure and less vulnerable. It's true that the WP site was attacked several times but I attribute that because the site is poorly implemented and not well developed. Any of you know if EE is really more secure than WP?

All open source are vulnerable. Especially those popular ones. If an open source has never been hacked, I think it's because it's not popular yet.
