White space

Hi.

My question is about this video:

https://teamtreehouse.com/library/web-typography/basic-web-typography/horizontal-space-measure-and-margins

Mattox says that if a light background has dark text, the area around the text is still considered white space. Is the same true if we have a dark background with light text?

I think, yes, and that was his point of that discussion. I heard - "White space" is a term and the "White" doesn't pertain to actual color - so even a dark background is White space - which is all around the text.

Moved from a reply to an answer, and upvoted!

Thanks.

I'll second Dave, white space is a term for "breathing room" around an element, but not actually related to white, or any color for that matter.

Thank you both. I know I've probably asked a ludicrous question but typography isn't my speciality so I hope you'll understand.
