3,675 PointsWhy am I getting the message "Bummer! Make sure you're selecting the span element nested inside 'intro'."?
Ive targeted the element in the html file using
<span class = "par1"></span>
Then in CSS, I've made the adjustments to font-weight and font-style.
Am I missing something?

.intro {
font-size: 1.25em;
line-height: 1.6;
}
.intro span {
font-weight: bold;
font-style: italic;
}

3,675 PointsHmmm well it didn't let me nest it within the .intro. I also tried
.intro, par1 {
}

Courses Plus Student 9,058 PointsFew things
- In my experience they're very specific (so when they say span they want span)
- Your sample response that you listed has two errors a. don't need comma for hierarchy stuff b. you aren't referring to the par1 class.
However, my guess is they want you to refer to the class then the span.
I want all the p tags inside the containers with the class "turtle"
.turtle p {
style stuff
}

8,022 PointsYour code is not targeting the span element within the intro class you are targeting the intro class itself, what you need to do is
.intro span {
font-size: 1.25em;
line-height: 1.6;
}
this will target the span located within the class intro.

3,675 PointsI tried: .
intro span { font-size: 1.25em; line-height: 1.6em; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; }
and it still gives me the following message: Bummer! Make sure you're selecting the intro
class, and setting an em font-size value equal to 20px.

Courses Plus Student 9,058 PointsI suppose I'd get 'best answer' more often if I just told people the answer - then again - what's the point of learning then?
John Magee
Courses Plus Student 9,058 PointsProbably because Treehouse exercises are pretty literal - and only have one answer so they probably want you to write the css so it indicates the span nested in the .intro - not just id'ing the span on its own.
