Why didn't we built this project from scratch ?

This project seems really interesting, but why didn't we built it from scratch and then start extending the objects? I think it would be a great practice for students as well if we built this project from scratch, it is hard to follow because every time Alena does something i need to check at least 3 files to understand where for example data is coming from etc..

I have this problem all the time in the PHP course, i feel she does not explain properly in each video what the commands are doing plus she talks very fast which makes things worse. I'm not sure what the other tracks are like but i am fed of posting stuff on here asking other people what's going on. The quizzes and challenges do not seem to make sense most of the time. I waste so much time trying to get through the challenges i'm starting to wonder if it's a ploy to slow you down so the whole thing takes longer = more money for treehouse .
