I have a problem that whatever i write its keep telling me im wrong anf the task is this:
Check if each student has a GPA of 4.0. If the student has a GPA of 4.0, use the student name variable to replace NAME when displaying the following line: NAME made the Honor Roll If the students GPA is not equal to 4.0, use the student name variable to replace NAME AND the student GPA variable to replace STUDENT GPA when displaying the following line: NAME has a GPA of STUDENT GPA
<?php
$studentOneName = 'Dave';
$studentOneGPA = 3.8;
$studentTwoName = 'Treasure';
$studentTwoGPA = 4.0;
//Place your code below this comment
if($studentOneGPA === 4) {
echo $studentOneName+"made the Honor Roll";
} else {
$studentOneName + "has a GPA of" + $studentOneGPA}
if($studentTwoGPA === 4) {
echo $studentTwoName+"made the Honor Roll";
} else {
$studentTwoName + "has a GPA of" + $studentOneGPA}
?>

$studentOneGPA = 3.8;
$studentTwoName = 'Treasure';
$studentTwoGPA = 4.0;
//Place your code below this comment
if($studentOneGPA === 4) {
echo $studentOneName+"made the Honor Roll";
} else {
$studentOneName + "has a GPA of" + $studentOneGPA}
if($studentTwoGPA === 4) {
echo $studentTwoName+"made the Honor Roll";
} else {
$studentTwoName + "has a GPA of" + $studentOneGPA}
?>
So here are many mistake that you made:
- In PHP we do not use plus
+
to concatenate strings, we use dot(.). - You can use variables inside double quotes(" "), so you don't have to use dot(.) to concatenate them.
- You left 'echo' two times, in else blocks.
- The condition you are passing is also wrong, you are comparing a float value with an Int value and that with identical check(===), which is always false,
if
block will never be executed.
This answer will help you understand:
<?php
$studentOneName = 'Dave';
$studentOneGPA = 3.8;
$studentTwoName = 'Treasure';
$studentTwoGPA = 4.0;
//Place your code below this comment
if($studentOneGPA == 4.0) {
echo "$studentOneName made the Honor Roll";
} else {
echo $studentOneName has a GPA of $studentOneGPA";
}
if($studentTwoGPA == 4.0) {
echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Roll";
} else {
echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of" + $studentOneGPA";
}
?>
