Why states.remove(['red', 'green', 'blue']) keeps failing?

I have copied this to my own Python shell and it works fine but here keeps failing.

lists.py 
states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5,
]
states.remove(['red', 'green', 'blue'])

#nothing wrong with the code, perfectly fine, 
#the reason, why it is not working, is because, you no longer have the answer for the 1st challenge
states = [

]

states.remove(5)
states.remove(['red', 'green', 'blue'])
