Why use double quotes? Seems to work with single quotes also.

This one works too. I didn't really get why should we use double quotes. <?php

function hello($name){ echo 'Hello, $name'; }

hello(Tipsy); ?>

When you use double quotes the variable inside the quotes is parsed prior to the echo. Single quotes do not parse the variable. thus:

$name = 'Ted';
echo "My name is $name.";
// returns: My name is ted.

echo 'My name is $name.';
// returns: My name is $name.
