Wordpress Development track pre-reqs

I see on the track description for Wordpress Development that we can learn to build addins with PHP, etc.

Are these tracks required before doing the Wordpress Dev track or can I go ahead and do it without doing those first?

Hi Christopher, the track should have everything you need to get started.

tl;dr - I'd suggest these courses as a pre-req:

  1. Wordpress for Owners
  2. HTML Foundations
  3. CSS Foundations
  4. Intro to Programming
  5. JavaScript Foundations

And then and the end ...

Do Enhancing a Simple PHP Application before How to Build a WordPress Plugin

Depending on your background you might have an easier harder time with it.

If you don't already know Wordpress you'll want to check out Wordpress for Owners. If you've never programmed before and are unclear about how things like functions work you'll want to check out Intro to Programming. If you aren't strong with HTML & CSS you'll want to add in HTML Foundations & CSS Foundations which is a pre-req for building your own Wordpress theme. If you don't already know JavaScript make sure to add in JavaScript Foundations before you take on JQuery Basics.

Since how to How to Build a WordPress Plugin is an advanced course and Build a Simple PHP Website is a beginner course you'll want to add an intermediate PHP course to bridge the gap, that's Enhancing a Simple PHP Application.

@Dustin was right. The track includes all the courses you need. In the next couple weeks we will release a Learn WordPress track that will start with knowing no WP and get you up to the level of the WP Dev track.

Hi Zac

If this is the case, then should I hold off on starting the Wordpress Dev track? I am currently working up to it, but obviously if there is as new track coming, Id rather not start the available one to then have to backtrack.
