If I want to add an excerpt in a footer area on all pages of a wordpress site - does anyone have a handy tutorial for that please or plugin.

What are you trying to do?
Example: view a blog post and have an excerpt from that post show in the footer; have a footer that grabs a random post excerpt (or recent post, or category post), or from a specific post id, or something else?

I was just after the latest post dropping into the footer
Sorted - I widgetized the footer and then dropped a Latest News Plug In in there.
