wordpress membership site with facebook authorization

Hi, im really curious about a trend ive been seeing lately. you know how some sites or apps want you to log in and you have an option to log in with your facebook login or twitter login...well how exactly is that done.

more specificially lets say i wanted to created a members area for my site (it doesnt have to be a social network, just specialized content in the members area) and i wanted people to be able to login using their facebook login. how would i go about doing this?

Hi there, Facebook has a plugin for WordPress (https://wordpress.org/plugins/facebook/) If you download the plugin and install it on your WordPress site I'm sure you'll find all the options Facebook allows for.

Actually, I found a better one for you; check this one out (https://wordpress.org/plugins/oa-social-login/)

It authenticates using a bunch of other social networks :) Let me know how it ends up working out for you.

thanks, ive tried this and there were a lot of things i didnt like about this. i think for my own learning purposes i want to look at how i would create this myself rather than rely on a third party plugin
