Would you still use PHPMailer in WordPress or wp-mail?

Hi I was just wondering if you would use PHPMailer in WordPress or wp-mail? I know there are also plugins to handled email like wp mandrill, would you use one of those?

you can also use MailChimp for wordpress, that is alot easier and Teamtreehouse do have courses on how to setup mailchimp for wordpress :)
