Yet another code challenge error.

<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Nick Pettit</title> </head> <body> <header> <a href="index.html"> <h1>Nick Pettit</h1> <h2>Designer</h2> <nav> <ul> <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li> <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li> <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li> </ul> </nav> </a> </header> <section></section> <footer> <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p> </footer> </body> </html>

And somehow my "Portfolio" text is NOT linked to index.html??? Thoughts please I hope I am really just missing something

looks like you have your code structured incorrectly. The nav is supposed to go AFTER the link in the header, you have it inside the link. try moving it below the link in the header like so:

<header>
<a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
</a>
<nav>
          <ul>
            <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
            <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
            <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
         </ul>
 </nav>
</header>

the first task should have caught that and not let you pass, guess it missed it
